Technical Committee members are appointed by the Subcommittee Chairperson based on an expression of interest from the member. Every two years the Subcommittee Chairperson will survey all the members to determine their Technical Committee interest in priority order. The Technical Committee size is governed by workload. Each Technical Committee will have a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson who are appointed by the Subcommittee Chairperson. Technical Committees will meet at least once each year during the annual meeting of the Subcommittee. Technical Committees may meet at other times during the year as needed. The Technical Committees are responsible for recommending changes to AASHTO specifications and other publications to the full Subcommittee for ballot. Technical Committee Meetings will normally be open to the public. The agenda and meeting duration for the Technical Committee meetings will be established by the Technical Committee Chairperson and provided to the host state member in time to schedule meeting rooms, meeting times etc. for the annual meeting. The Subcommittee Secretary will request a status report from the Technical Committee Chairperson each year. This information will be relayed to the Subcommittee Chairperson for inclusion in Subcommittee Reports to the Standing Committee on Highways.
